Good but could have been better May 26, 2005 Erica Anderson (Minneapolis, MN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't really say that I am much of a fan of mixed cds nowadays. I used to buy mixed cds left to right. Now I think they have run their course because there are too many on the market at the moment. I am not a big house music fan today as I used to be. One of the better mixed cds of house music is Victor Calderone's "Vol. 1-E-Vc2". Victor did some killer remixes for Madonna which is one of the reasons I bought this cd. He does a remix of my all time favorite Madonna song "Sky Fits Heaven". I always felt that song should have been released as a single. It would have been perfect for a remix treatment. Calderone does it on this cd and does it well. I also dug his dub mix of Garbage's "Push It". Normally I don't care for dub mixes but in this case, it isn't bad and I actually like it. Overall the cd flows nicely. It is really hard for me to find a mixed cd where the songs flows together with ease and with no abrupt breaks. As for the other songs, I also enjoyed Veronica's "Someone to Hold", Deborah Cox's "It's Over Now", and the Kim English and Andrea Martin songs. Those were my particular favorites (other than the Madonna and Garbage tracks). The production definitely has a live vibe which is a must for mixed cds in my opinion. It makes the listening experience sounds like you are already in the nightclub on a Saturday night.
Good, but not as powerful as actually being in his club May 25, 2005 Daniel W. Kelly (Long Island, NY United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Big Love, big dance hit, fun way to start the disc. Someone to Hold is probably Veronica's hottest, but sort of gets chopped here and loses the power it has in its original extended form. Boring drum track follows, then, oddly, a dub of Deborah Cox, but it does retain the great buildup. Another drum track follows, then a long cut of the diva anthem Unspeakable Joy, followed by another diva with attitude, Andrea Martin. More tribal, then nearly the full length version of "Do It Properly" in its peak hour glory. Another drum track follows, and then we get the must have Calderone mix of Madonna's Sky Fits Heaven, before ending with a short dub of Garbage. With just a few highlights and exclusives, this disc tends to get boring with its cycle of vocal/drum tracks. Calderone can spin a peak hour like nobody's business...just wish he would have done so hear. Track times:
1. big love (6:37) 2. someone to hold (7:40) 3. Aura tribe (6:13) 4. it's over now (4:15) 5. feel this (4:54) 6. unspeakable joy (7:47) 7. Share the love (7:03) 8. Theme from love (1:34) 9. do it properly (9:28) 10. are u ready (4:36) 11. sky fits heaven (8:40) 12. Push it (2:28)

Victor does his thing with the selection of the music and how he keeps it moving from beginning to end. One of the best cd's I own, it's hot.
Great CD! March 27, 2002 John Bearden (Miami, FL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted to find a cd that sounded similar to Calderone live at Roxy NYC and this came pretty darn close. This is great work-out music and great for parties. I played it for a recent party I threw and people couldn't stop dancing!
Simply Amazing July 12, 2001 Elan (PA, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This CD is great. The best song is "Someone to Hold". It is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Victor Calderone remains at the top of the list. If you like hard beats and music to get down to, this is the CD for you!
