Trance Haven..Ultra records does no disappoint!!! July 8, 2008 Eric Lum Ultra Trance Collecion over the years have not disappointed. However, there are ones that have been better than the other. Overall, all Ultra Trance Discs 1-7 are good. For the price Amazon prices it for, cannot beat it.
This cd has all the latest trance hits that you hear at raves and clubs. The blending of tracks and song selection is good. All the tracks are enjoyable to listen to and not repetitive as one may think when it comes to trance music.
GREAT DRIVING MUSIC for those avid listeners wanting to feel "in the zone" when cruising down the highway.
Great for the gym November 16, 2007 K. Coveney (NYC) Definately not much trance, however I bought it for the gym and it gives me all the hype I need.
Don't waste your money November 7, 2007 Dione Grobmeier (Fort Myers, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have purchased Ultra mixes before and found them to be moderately good. This album bucks that trend. This is a long, repetitive exercise in awful. As stated by another reviewer, very little in this album is trance. House, industrial, pop, and dance all make an appearance, which would be great if this was Ultra house, industrial, pop, and dance 7. There are quite a few good songs on this album. I Am, Hide and Seek, and Bueatiful are all excellent trance songs. Good for Me is an excellent song, but the remix on this album is horrible. By all means, go buy a trance mix and support the community, just don't buy this one.
Mostly NOT trance collection that will appeal to dance fans because of long versions October 28, 2007 Daniel W. Kelly (Long Island, NY United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If the Ultra series can't dig up enough new `trance' songs to fill two discs, maybe they should start to surmise that it's time to call it quits with the whole `trance' thing. What you get here is mostly a commercial electro house/euro dance compilation that drags in many spots with filler, but is saved by a couple of REALLY hard to get mixes of some bigger tracks. I just wish the ultra label would take advantage of the licensing rights to all these unreleased mixes and actually create UNMIXED compilations for collectors who have watched fewer and fewer dance mixes finding their way to physical CDs. As for this compilation, disc is more enjoyable in terms of catchy hooks and vocals. Disc 2 is all over the place, with quite a few repetitive filler tracks.
Track times and notes:
CD1
1. 4 in the morning(thin white duke mix)...gwen stwefani (6:40) (to get almost 7 minutes of the unreleased thin white duke mix is phenomenal, even if it isn't LuCont's best mix or stefani's best song) 2. grace Kelly(tom Neville mix)...mika (5:23) (great to have another one of the hard to get mixes of this song on CD, but I prefer the bimbo jones mix on Thrive Mix 4) 3. stranger(vission vs. aude mix)...hilary duff (5:02) (this hard-to-get mix goes to far into the electro house feel and loses the original catchy vocal melody) 4. clothes off (josh harris mix)...gym class heroes (5:33) (good hard electro house mix of this cover of the Jermaine Stewart 80s classic) 5. cry for you...September (4:33) (September can really do no wrong with infectious melodies, great female vocals, and pop dance beats. Great song) 6. hide and seek (tiesto mix)...imogen heap (7:24) (wow! A song that actually sounds like trance! This is sweeping, melodic and soft with some male vocals mixed down in the mix. VERY Tiesto) 7. read my mind(Gabriel and Dresden mix)...killers (7:00) (most of the remixes of this song are good, including this mellow electro mix, which retains the feel of the original version) 8. break my fall...tiesto with BT (5:06) (trancy/electro house male vocal by Tiesto and BT. Good song to complement the Killers track before it) 9. again...kim leoni (4:23) (slammin commercial electro house track with great female vocals. More than 4 minutes would have been welcome) 10. white lies...paul van dyke (6:10) (Despite it being Van Dyke, this isn't trance. It's a good electroish female vocal track though) 11. your love...topmodelz (5:37) (excellent euro dance remake of the 80s song by the Outfield. It sounds like they use the original vocals actually) 12. just breathe...headspinz (4:43) (Very euro dance track with female vocals--a cover of Faith Hill track Breathe. Sounds like something Cascada would record)
CD2
1. good for me(king roc mix)...above & beyond (6:23) (moody, dark, tribal trance) 2. bring the noise (benny benassi mix)...public enemy (5:31) (noisy electro/techno mix of an old public enemy rap song) 3. pulverturn 2.0(eric smax & Thomas gold mix)...niels van gogh vs. eniac (6:39) (a funky electro house track. Kinda boring) 4. ghost(filo & peri mix)...jes (4:04) (pretty female vocal track, sort of like a minimal trance/dance song) 5. grasshopper...sander van doorn (6:04) (noisy, minimal trance) 6. this world is watching me...armin van buuren vs. rank 1 (6:36) (very dubby electro trance) 7. I am...markus schulz vs. chakra (5:52) (mostly instrumental mellow trance track) 8. beautiful...ferry corsten (5:34) (rockin' electro house song. Not much vocal) 9. catch a fall...4 strings (6:33) (some female vocal, a partial trance, partial euro dance feel. Nice stuff) 10. freefall...jeckyll & hyde (6:52) (hard euro trance....which makes it feel sort of dated) 11. me so h*rny...dj p*rny (4:41) (more hard euro trance. Not a bad track...just dated) 12. when love becomes a lie (cascada mix)...liz kay (4:11) (Cascada remixed, and might as well have just recorded it. Very commercial pop euro dance with female vocals...)
