| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Trance is about as Dutch as windmills, and more than any other DJ, Tiesto is its ambassador. His highly successful In Search of Sunrise series can claim much of the credit for this, and this fifth installment, Los Angeles, delivers in spades. As ever, the man finds his inspiration in the female voice; from Late Night Alumni's "Empty Streets," which pits a bassline that bounces like Silly Putty against Becky Jean Williams's dreamy vocals, to Karen Overton's dancefloor-destroying cover of Billie Ray Martin's "Your Loving Arms," Tiesto again proves himself a master at driving sets to soaring highs with well-placed siren songs. The second disc finds the Dutchman in more progressive territory, luring in the unsuspecting with Pink Elephant's effervescent "LAX" only to drop the hammer with Alex Stealthy's "Something Is Wrong," a track with a disorienting beat that seems to tumble over itself and a haunting melody that sounds as though it were trapped under ice. Tiesto also shows he hasn't lost his affinity for engaging the listener in a test of wills, as in A Boy Called Joni's vertiginous "Green Astronauts." Like all good mixes, the fifth in the ISoS series is after all a study in contrasts. Ironic, perhaps, that with the title Los Angeles the album makes a compelling case that the trance crown won't be leaving Holland anytime soon. --Brent Kallmer
Album Description After the great success of volume 4 Tiesto is back with the latest installment of the In Search Of Sunrise series, volume 5, subtitled Los Angeles. Los Angeles, the city of angels, was the city where In Search Of Sunrise 5 was mixed, as Tiesto is spending his days now getting some rest and working on new tracks with one of world's finest producers, Brian Transeau a.k.a. BT. Therefore Los Angeles is an obvious title for part 5 of the series, containing a blend of the most beautiful progressive- and trance tracks from this moment. Tiesto has selected some of the finest tracks from his playlists, and has most signed tracks especially and exclusively for this compilation. In Search Of Sunrise 5 will be packaged in a special slipcase, printed with metallic foil.

Amazing! Just Amazing! July 23, 2008 Chris Hardiman (Chicago, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This CD is quite possibly my favorite CD of all time. There are a few people I know who have made it a point to me that they do not like techno, yet still like this CD when I play it for them. It has an uniquely artistic quality about it which separates it from other techno/trance. Most of the tracks are definitely not something you would hear at a club. As a whole the CD is smooth with less of the thumping bass I'm used to when I hear club music. ISOS Vol.5 has a fair share of stand-out tracks such as "Empty Streets", "Your Loving Arms", "Moonlight Party" and "Color my Eyes" but it is also just great to chill and listen to the whole way through and flows very well. I really can't say enough for this CD.
IMPORTANT: You may not like this CD the first time you hear it but you absolutely have to give it 3 listens and there is a good chance you will like it. This is just the way Tiesto's music works which I have verified this with several people. I often don't like his CDs the first or second time I listen to them but his music grows on you out of nowhere. I didn't even like this CD the first time I listened to it and now it might be my all-time favorite CD.
yawn... July 2, 2008 Christian Trautman This CD lasted about 3 days in my car before I shelved it to never be listened to again. I just could not grow into it. I have done better mixing myself, its so sub par from what we are used to with Tiesto. I hope he never does something this boring again. Whatever happened to the days of Magik Vol 6? Its what you get here, boring, uncreative mixing. The fan boys will love it of course because it has the Tiesto logo. If you want a good trance CD, I suggest something else. This is an awful CD.
The best CD out of my whole collection. June 16, 2008 Sarah Vo (San Diego, CA) This is my favorite CD of all time. It's been in my car CD player ever since I bought it. I love the haunting vocals and melodic sounds. A very memorable CD. All my friends went out and bought this after hearing it in my car. It's a must havez for trance addicts.
cd1 meh cd 2 sick February 10, 2008 . (Sarasota) cd1 has a couple decent tracks but cd2 is solid all up until the last track, id say cd2 counts as one of his top 3 best mixes.
Soundtrack to an electric life December 11, 2007 Your in the Matrix (Wichita, KS USA) Positively moving. I don't buy into the music and artistic taste criticism industry. Part of the magnificence of music and other art appreciation is that it has been relatively immune from scientific explanation and scrutiny. We don't know much about why we like music and what about it moves us and that enigma makes our relationship to the art something sacred and deeply personal. This album is magnificent. This kind of awesome trance really enhances my concentration and endurance while reading or studying.
