5 out of 5 stars Great Dvd   May 2, 2008
Benoblest (San Diego)
Sure this dvd only has parts of songs someimes, and not a lot, but the dvd is more about coachella as a whole, not just the bands. The performances are top notch, and the filming is great. Audio is very good too. You cant please everyone with a dvd like this, but I think its a great variety.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect distillation of Coachella   March 27, 2008
Tom Paine (Pangea)
The Arcade Fire performance alone is worth the price. If you love Coachella you should own this (and you will love it). If you haven't experienced the joy that is Coachella, you might not enjoy it as much.

4 out of 5 stars Good!   February 17, 2008

The Coachella DVD shows what it is like to be at the Festival. There are many shots of art, different stages, the dance tent, interviews with attendees and performers, and the unique natural environment of the Palm Springs desert area. if you are expecting a music concert on video you may be disappointed. if you are curious about coachella, or want a keepsake then BUY IT NOW!

2 out of 5 stars Pretty, Pretty Bad   October 29, 2007
Anthony Ian (Chicago, IL United States)
Most of the reviews here are dead-on but I can add some. I thought this would be a straight-up concert film but as you've read it's not. It's more like somebody's indulgent college film project.

Also, simply one song per act (and a bad one for Morrissey) and a bevy of little-known acts that don't deserve the time onscreen...blech. The Chili Peppers phone in "Californication" in an already sleepy film.

The ONLY good thing about this is Radiohead's absolutely floor-stomping performance. They simply kill with their 3 minutes.

Sadly, nobody else does.

Skip it.

4 out of 5 stars You will thank the filmmakers in 20 years.   September 16, 2007

This film spends almost as much time on the attendees as it does the artists, and that's the way it should be. The filmmakers make a point of noting that the whole deal about festivals such as these is that everyone gets to come together as one, a rare occurrence in Bush USA 2007 . The performances are inspired and there's a good cross section of varied kinds of groups here.

More than anything else, I think that this will be an excellent document of what the music scene was like in 200X.

Beautiful camera work, editing, and twirling redhead.
