2 out of 5 stars Cheap immitations? You bet.   February 29, 2008
SRFireside (Houston, TX United States)
First off this isn't a compilation of tribute tracks from different artists. This is from some made up band called the Chemical Brothers Tribute Group. ALL of the tracks are just their versions of each of these songs. The instrumentation is different since they use different musical gear. The vocalization is different (again... they are doing it themselves). Other than that these are carbon copies. NOT remixes like they pretend to be. The music itself isn't bad, but it is rather bland compared to the dynamic sound you get from the original Brothers.

My opinion? You're better off not getting this unless you find it in a bargain bin. The imitations (NOT remixes) are just not good enough.

Denmark is the only track that gave The Chemical Brothers feel, which is what I want.

4 out of 5 stars Refreshing, In a Subtle Way   May 25, 2005

If you're like me, you've listened to every Chemical Brothers album at least 25 times. Every beat drop, every beautiful build-up.. you know it. You know every detail. That's exactly why I love this album. It's the same goodness, the same groove as all your favorites.. just freshened up a bit.

The mixes on this album come in two varieties (at least it seems to me). One is your usual remix. They've taken the great tune and scrambled it around a bit so it sounds new and exciting. The other variety(my personal favorite) are the tunes which are truly just recreated from scratch. All new sounds and all new samples are used to create exactly the same tune. Yeah, sounds stupid.. But it works. There's a small subtlety to this which is like an artform. A perfect example is "Hey Boy, Hey Girl [DJ Sundance Mix]" which is arranged in exactly the same fashion as the original. But the new samples gives it a refreshing feel that makes you not only enjoy this new version, but makes you want to listen to the original in a way you never have before.

In some cases, such as "Test [Positive Mix]", I actually enjoy this version more than the original, but don't tell anyone I said that. But most of the tunes are closer to the Hypnotic Fix Mix of Star Guitar or Dr. E's mix of Chemical Beats - Some of the great samples within the tune are just brought out more.. they're clearer. They will never replace my love for the originals, but like I wrote above, they just seem to keep things fresh.

To any Chemical Brothers fan, I recommend this disc. Not because it's something new and something that expands your already vast collection of Chemical Brothers tunes.. but because it enhances what you already know and love.

1 out of 5 stars Please don't buy this cd   January 19, 2005

I've heard a bit of it, and i almost vomit on my keyboard. If you've heard Chemical brothers, your ears will blood out, you'll vomit your stomach out, and you'll die. So, if you want to make a good action, if you know one of the guys who made this crap, please shot him in the nuts. that way, he'll suffer more than if you shot him in the head. Thank you in name of the whole humankind

i heard this album for the first time from a friend and since that moment i fell in love with this cd. Ive listened to it countless times in all places and everyone who hears it loves it. All the songs on it are awesome, but my personal favorite is Hoops. This song is just amazingly incredible!!!! Just for that song, it is worth buying it. This CD got me into the whole trance and electronic music scene. it is a must have!!!!!!!!!
