Save your Money! February 21, 2006 d.j. E.J. - Los Angeles, California I apologize for being so honest, however, this c.d. isn't worth much. Even at .75 cents, you'd be waisting your money. Unless, that is, you don't have some of the tracks on this disc. This is an old c.d., so the tracks are older. Some of the tracks are o.k., if you don't own them already. The second c.d. has the same tracks that are on the first c.d. but they're remixed by Paul. Some of these mixes are good, however, I still wouldn't waist your money. Buy one of his other c.d.s instead. Paul actually is an outstanding d.j.. I've seen him in Los Angeles several times. However, this c.d. is a waist of time listening and money on shipping. Considering that I paid .01 cent on Amazon for these c.d.s, I still paid too much. Sorry Paul, it's o.k. though, this is an old c.d. and one of his first c.d.s made. Thanks for reading! See my other reviews for great c.d.s.
Tall Paul will always be great October 30, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Dont listen to the guy who wrote everything in capslock, he doesnt even know the difference between Paul Van Dyk and Tall Paul. The other guy does have a point. Djs like Steve Lawler and John Digweed are masters in what they do. But so is Tall Paul when it comes to raw pumping party energy. This cd is very good. It sets the mood for a crazy night. This is sort of commercial house/trance and dont expect to find eerie underground sounds like the ones you find in a Digweed cd. They are two completely different styles and you cant compare one to the other. So lighten up and enjoy the sounds of DJ TALL PAUL.
Lack of Inspiration October 5, 2002 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
WHATEVER MADE THE CREATOR OF THIS CD THINK THAT PAUL VAN DYK LACKS SOMETHING!!. THIS IS THE REASON, I THINK, HE HAS TOTALLY FLOPPED IN MAKING THIS CD OF HIS OWN. FIRST OF ALL, THE MAKER OF THIS CD IN DEFINITELY USED TO TOO MUCH "TECHNO" MUSIC. BY TECHNO I MEAN HARD TECHNO. SORRY PAL, VAN DYK IS NOT MEASURED ON A TECHNO SCALE. HE IS MEASURED ON A "TRANCE" SCALE. THE MUSIC HE MAKES ENTRANCES ONE TO THE DEEPEST LEVEL. UNLIKE THAT, THIS CD SIMPLY GETS INTO ONE'S HEAD AND GIVE HIM/HER A BUZZ WITHOUT DRINKING. PERSONALLY, I THINK TO MAKE TRANCE MUSIC, YOU GOT TO HAVE SOME BACKGROUND AND INSPIRATION FROM THE MASTERS. THIS CD IS NOT WORTH BUYING! '
Truly, truly, awful. Move on to Digweed, Graham, Lawler NOW October 3, 2002 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Oh dear, dear, dear. Every music genre needs a Tall Paul. What do I mean? Its only by such truly banal, commercial, mindless, candly floss that the quality stuff can be measured. This is a set of the most shockingly awful club candy music I have ever heard; yes it has its audience, but it isn't you my friend, no you have too much going on upstairs. And this is truly, truly, appalling, Euro club fodder. If you happened upon the name Tall Paul, looking for some great, cool, dance music, and if you are not a beer swilling English (or German) tourist in Ibiza, and have an IQ over 70, move on, please. Let me suggest you check out the following DJ artists: Digweed, Graham, Lawler and work out from there. There is so much tremendous house, progressive, trance, etc. etc., that this embarassing collection of club pap must be immediately sent to the circular file. Of course, if you threw up your paella over some busty bird from Manchester after too many Watney's Pale Ales on your last holiday in Spain, dancing to some Tall Paul set, this may bring back happy saffron sodden memories. Enjoy, my dear demented friend--one star for you, out of sympathy for your lack of substance. If I tell you, dear reader, that these cuts are Paul's own compositions that should warn you further, this guy is a DJ, not a musician. I know you have class, dear reader, so lets say no more about this disposable, forgettable, slice of merdre, shall we? I know I could trust you, now enter "Digweed" into the search field....goodbye, and thank you.
A good DJ CD and a good buy (2 discs) May 1, 2002 Chad Brendan Fogelberg (Longmont, CO United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This album is not the greatest. There are some very melodic songs and some with pounding bass that dominates. 'Everybody's a Rockstar' is a pounding, standout track that everyone can get into. I personally like the track 'Be There' a lot as well. The remix's are excellent. Almost every one is really good. Some of the tracks can get too repetitive at times, but this is a minor problem. Overall this is a fairly good purchase if you enjoy house music. Most of my favorite DJ's are trance DJ's and this CD disappointed me somewhat. I do recommend artists such as Sasha and BT over Tall Paul. I think his style is not as interesting in some ways as other DJs.
