I like this CD. I have it and the DNA Activation series of 4 CDs plus guidebook, all from Shapeshifter. They call it "Visionary Music". It is NOT what most people call music. It is very different and is a blend of electronica sounds, extended notes and blends. It is spacey, like a sound track you would expect to hear in a movie when the astronauts were floating around in space in their little space suits. I would call it "New Age". It is very vibrational. It is mainly sounds, with some brief music segments.
Now, with that said, does it balance my chakras? I don't honestly know. It's hard to say what any one product is doing, especially when you have many. I am also a Reiki person and we deal with energy and vibrational sensitivities. I do lots of things to balance and center and ground. I have lots of different types of CDs to try to do that. I believe that a variety of these types of CDs is helpful to me and probably to others. I do believe the vibrations on the Shapeshifters CDs are at least stimulating different areas of my brain, maybe more. In all honesty, a CD that does something for me may or may not do something for you, depending on where you are and what you need and what resonates with you. Sometimes you have to just believe in the possibilities until proven otherwise. But, I have also found that I do not often achieve overnight success with anything. It usually takes awhile to program or re-program my subconscience.
Now that I've said all that, the material I have in the DNA Activation Guide book from Shapeshifter for the Odyssey CD says it was created with the intent to balance the chakras and expand the auric field. It claims to "create a continuous subtle vibrational effect on the physical body which allows the undulating modulations and melodies to stretch and expand the etheric energy bodies. . ." Shapeshifter recommends using this CD prior to using their DNA series CDs. I would assume this recommendation is because you would logically be in a better position to reprogram yourself if you were in an optimum balanced state.
There is also a gold-cover chakra balancing 2 CD set by Deepak Chopra that I like a lot, called "Chakra Balancing: Body, Mind and Soul". See my other reviews for more info on that set. It provides info about the chakras (colors, sanskrit, etc.) as well as the music. Those who are looking for Chakra 101 info may find Deepak Chopra's set more beneficial.

After reading the other reviews here I was very excited to order this CD hoping that I will be able to balance my chakras etc. I have been listening to it once or twice a week for two months now and can't really say that I have noticed any real results from it. I have another CD from a diferent author which has a track for chakra balancing and it is much better, I can actually feel that I am becoming calmer, more energized and in a good mood. Not with this one. The music is very strange too, sounds like a movie score or something. Not too bad but hasn't worked as expected.

I am into many things, Reiki, Magick, Telekensis and so on. But this CD does wonders for the Charkas and helps balance them out meanwhile expanding the aura field. It is an amazing work of heart, it takes a while to get used to since sometimes it sounds like something you'd heart in the background of a anime movie lol. But it's well worth it, I hope you all enjoy it too.
