Robbie Rivera First
Hit and miss with Rivera-CD1 miss, CD2 hit
Rivera has a very distinct sound...and while it's pumpin it's easier digested in small doses when it's his instrumental stuff. Disc one, while consisting of quite a few of his billboard dance chart hits, is way too much of his signature funky house sound with no vocals, except for track 9. Not to mention, this isn't a mix CD, but it's also not a segmented CD. The tracks aren't beat mixed together, but basically overlap each other, sort of like listening to crossfade on your ipod. It's just awful. Disc 2 is disco house oriented with soulful, gospel feeling vocals, and the music is just as slammin as the vocals. Here, tracks are interspersed with his instrumental stuff, and the result is much more balanced and interesting. Disc 2 is a real party-except for the fact that it also suffers from terrible track changes. Too bad he couldn't just beat mix his own CD, or make each track totally stand alone. this really brings down the rating on this CD (as does disc 1). Track times:
