Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The bestselling author of B-More Careful, Shannon Holmes, delivers Bad Girlz, another wild adventure into the streets. The setting this time is the Badlands, one of the toughest and poorest communities in Philadelphia.

Bad Girlz takes you into the mysterious and often dangerous lives of young women who turn to the streets and strip clubs as a means of survival. These are girls who, along the way, suffer bad breaks and find themselves ripe for exploitation by men and women who pretend to be their saviors.

Tender and Goldie were taken under wing by Kat, a veteran stripper, who enjoyed the life and the risks she had to take to stay in the mix of the sex trade. Both of these young and beautiful girls had ended up in dire straits and in need of Kat's help in different ways, but ultimately for the same reasons: They lacked the love and support that most of us expect to get at home and in our communities. Where they live, illegal money is often the only money to be made, and the difference between the law and the outlaw is tough to discern.

Holmes tells a page-turning story of sex, money, and murder in the name of survival and reveals the many ways that good girls, trying to get by in desperate situations, become Bad Girlz.

5 out of 5 stars life of strippers...   November 7, 2008

This book was about the life of strippers and what that can be like at times. It is a novel...But it was a great read.

4 out of 5 stars A good read   October 9, 2008
Borntrue Bethea (Philadelphia, PA)
I found this book a good read. Honestly it seems more like a biography than a novel and i found that rather good. It was very interesting to see things this way and survival in it top form. Not to mention how the area i live in now, what other parts of the community formed in a way i haven't seen yet. The best part i like about it was the pimp was a female. that was different than you see when men are the pimp. shannon holmes showed that women can be as dangerous and vindictive as men... maybe more.

3 out of 5 stars Kat was a scary messy ho   August 28, 2008
Lesley E. Hal (Dallas, Tx)
Kat was evil as they come but her game was so weak. how could Tender not see through Kat's bull. Gloria my heart went out to her and i hate that she died before the truth was revealed and besides that a lot of things were left unanswered. all in all this is not the worst urban lit i've read but the storyline could've been tied up a lil neater especially when it came to Kat.

I think Tender should've really stuck it to Kat and how did she come to the conclusion that kat would do right by her when it came to the money? Q was a straight up punk and i mean that in every sense of the word. first he all screaming like a lil byotch when Kat tossed the salad then he was just acting unofficial. i think this book had great potential to have been better it started out with a bang and kind of fizzled then picked back up. i have part two ready to rock and roll. i'm just puzzled how part two will go since 2 of the main characters are dead.

5 out of 5 stars THESE GIRLS ARE VERY BAD..........   June 22, 2008

This book was mad good. Kat was crazy, she was the whole book. If there wasn't a Kat the book would of been stupid.
