A Slice of New York Club Life March 21, 2001 Jared (New York, NY United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Peter Rauhofer's first full CD from his new Star 69 label delivers the goods. If you've heard him spin at Roxy in NYC or anywhere else, then CD makes the perfect souvenir. Peter's sets are dark, moody, deep and slightly progressive. The CD oozes with the same qualities and textures, flowing well from one track to the next. The songs aren't too long varying from 4 to 6 minutes each. There are a bare minimum of vocals on the disc. Most notably, "Do It Properly" (collaborated with Victor Calderone) which has already been previously released on Circuit Party Vol 4. This song is able to stand on its own, and works well here. His new track, Massiv's "Who Am I?" is one that he's been playing a lot recently at his gigs. Same with Magic Cucumber's "Stand Up." The track that jumped out at me is Superjuicy's "LSS." A fiercely dark number that Rahoufer plays every so often, "LSS," will take you on a moody journey and will get your feet moving. "This Is Star 69" is a CD that anyone from the NYC club scene must own.
