Insides were one of the first bands to be labelled "post rock", part of the first wave of post-rock back in the early 90's, along with bands like Pram, Bark Psychosis and Seefeel. This is a bit of a classic, and while not every track is up to the high standard of "Distractions" or "Darling Effect", it still has five or six songs you'll want to hear in ten years time - and how many albums can you say that about? The above mentioned tracks are, in my opinion, the best. Both feature simple melodic processed guitar parts, alongside Kirsty Yates low-slung vocal lines, with arrangements that suprise while sounding familiar, and distinctive textures. I've played this album to people who wouldn't normally listen to post-anything, and they all seemed to think it was good. Fans of the above bands, todays post-rock, or even Aphex-style ambient techno will find a lot to like here.
