mainstream mistakes June 8, 2008 electrohead (musicland, INDIA) MOS is great but uses too many big mainstream tracks that barely capture the true feeling of electro house. although there are some great tracks here they cannot compare to compilations like "the world's greatest electro house" that has some real nice hard electro house.
Decent...by Ministry of Sound Standards December 29, 2007 CloudMan (Sydney, NSW Australia) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Wow, a MOS album dedicated to "Electro House". Of course there will be your staple of cheesy tracks on almost every album Ministry puts out...but much less on this Electro House Sessions album than the MOS norm. Whew...good thing they warned the potential buyer by labelling the front cover with "Filthy House & Sexy Electro".
Usually the Sessions albums by MOS have fewer longer tracks, but unforturnately that is not the case here. 20 tracks on each disc and over a handful of them than can be found on a dozen other MOS albums.
Disc 1 is clubier and has more anthems. It also has a poorer layout of tracks. Starting off with "Perfect" by Mason Vs. Princess Superstar then following with "Proper Education" by Eric Prydz vs. Floyd was an interesting choice and in my opinion does not work at all.
Disc 2 starts off better and is edgier overall, but still includes too many tracks (many of them are average). The flanking of "In White Rooms" by Booka Shade and "Lose Control" by Darkmountaingroup was right on the money.
If you are into Electro House should you rush out and buy this ultra-commerical label's Sessions album? Probably not. If this is your preferred electronica genre then you already know very well there are much stronger compilations out there and I'm sure you already own them.
Both discs get 3/5 stars.
best cd electro "dance" in year October 31, 2007 Saulo Jose Araujo (Londrina, Brasil) mos best select tracks for dance clubs in the year. sessions 11 ... 15 are perfects, but electro house is very good for dance.
