Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Brazilution: Edicao 5 delivers a unique soundtrack for the transitional period between the cold winter and the first warm sunrays of spring. The vibe is perfectly suited for chilling and relaxation at your favorite places and for dreaming of the next big wave at the Copacabana Beach.

Great effort was put into the track selection. Many songs are available for the first time on CD or are exclusive to this compilation. Additionally, the packaging is a sight to behold! The double CD is packaged as a digi-book with exclusive photo material.

Brazilution delivers a unique mixture of deep bossa nova and soft, swinging, latin influenced nu jazz. DJ, vocalist and producer Vikter Duplaix performs his mysterious ballad "Morena", Mo' Horizons are "Alive Tonight" (remixed by URB Next 100 artist Bobby Hughes Combination), Jamiroquai celebrates the "Corner Of The Earth" and Zuco 103 present "Fome Total" (with a remix from the Funky Lowlives). Soul is the special ingredient in many tracks, such as sparkling songs from Donnie and Uschi Classen (with legendary house vocalist Robert Owens).

5 out of 5 stars Brazilution Series - A Must for Lovers of Brazilian Music   March 7, 2006
E Reed (Miami, USA)
I came across the Brazilution series from the Ministry of Sound in Berlin only last year, but I've purchased all of their releases to date and have been most amazed by their choices.

As a Brazilian music lover, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, I was blown out of my mind when I found out that these guys in Germany were coming up with such a great interpretation of our beach culture and music, mixing it up so well with Euro-inspired lounge and light electronic tunes.

Ian Pooley and Arndt Kielstropp from The Ministry of Sound - Berlin are master visionaries of this cross-cultural artistic landscape that is inspired by Brazilian music.

5 out of 5 stars 2 disks full of smooth and sophisticated downtempo rhythms   May 31, 2004

Highly recommended. If you like Brazilectro #3, this is for you! A total pleasure.

4 out of 5 stars Great Chill - Surprisingly well done by....   July 2, 2003

Ministry of Sound! They have taken over the more "chillout" aspect of the Brazilectro series. But I will try to give some background in this review because when you look at this set, you see "Brazilution edicao 5" but also there is "Brazilectro Session 5". MOS not only took the "chillout" Brazilectro series from label Audiopharm (artists include Lava, Moodorama, Marshmallows), MOS also managed to include the two dj's behind the first four of the Brazilectro franchises. But the link between MOS and Audiopharm is going to be strong, as is evident by the terrific new packaging, etc.

WHat makes the Brazilectro/ution series stand out above the others (with the exception of Break & Bossa and Glucklich) is it's focus on exclusive tracks. You'll hear new music by artists on their label before any other comp can release them. Further, the exclusive cuts/their artists are usually quality. Check out the bounce in the instrumentation to Janice's "Avenida Nostalgia". Or the smoothness of Justin's "Can't turn back time"! Also on this one is an exclusive song by Hacienda and a few others as well.

The flow of the CD is great, but this is actually where I do have a small problem. MOS mixes EVERYTHING, and it's why I was worried about them taking over this. These cuts are mixed and will go right into the next song. That works for this cd, but I would have preferred it to be like the other Brazilectros. As for the track selection - besides the exclusive acts, you have some very cool remixes and artists. From a light-hearted Fantastic Plastic Machine cut (featuring Roberto Menescaol/Carlos Lyra) to Arkestra 1 and to the smooth Ananda Project, there are some great songs. And the Sepia remake of the Jobim song is a great wind down - although it is cut a bit short.

I recommend this set! It's got great tracks, has two cd's (disc one stand-out) and is good for the evenings. If you're a fan of the "Winter Chill" series, you'll probably dig this. And if you liked Brazilectro vol 3, you won't wanna miss this.
