Album Description Only the best can be deemed a "Franchise Player" - Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, David Beckham, Kobe, Babe Ruth, each one of them the best in their field and the ones you always want on your side. Well, we're adding some new names to the list starting with JT Donaldson. JT is the classic triple threat - a skilled DJ, Producer & Remixer who logs countless miles DJing from Sydney to San Francisco. So it's only right that we kick off this new compilation series with one of the best. The Franchise Player sound is the sound of the underground. This isn't music for glamorous ultra-clubs and their overpriced bottle-service. This is music for the true believers. The sound is deep and melodic but always tough, gritty and guaranteed to make you move.

meh...could have been better... December 22, 2007 walnuts (NOrCal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a former DJ and long-time house afficionado, I've been a huge fan both of JT's tracks and sets for a lot of years now. I was really looking forward to hearing this CD, he's an excellent live DJ and I expected the same from this mix. There are a lot of excellent tracks on this disc, and here and there it really got going. The problem I had was with the track-to track selection...overall the set just doesn't have a lot of continuity or flow to it, it at times seems like a totally random track selection. IMO, a good house set is an experience that takes you on a ride over the course of the mix, whether it be a hours-long live set or a CD length mix. This CD just didn't cut it. It has a choppy feel to it, it will flow nicely for a couple-three tracks and then just drop into a total WTF track, something just out of place that kills the groove. A couple mixes are totally borderline. In all, it's not a BAD mix, but it's not good either. I'd buy it again just for the tracks alone and fleeting moments of brilliance, but overall I expected more from JT.When I purchased this, I bought the Franchise Player 02 (Joey Youngman) CD as well, and that was far more impressive. In fact, I liked it very much and highly recommend it. If you are looking to buy one CD today and are considering the JT disc, pass and get Joey Youngman.
Jt hits "Franchse Player" out of the park March 11, 2007 D. Johnson (Texas) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
A perfect choice for a new label (Franchise Player) to select Jt Donaldson for their first release. With frequent contributions to OM records, Supperclub and numerous remixes to his credit, Jt brings it all to the dance floor with this release. Everything about Franchise Player 01 gets you moving. Its soulful, with a true house feel. Mixed incredibly, the disc moves effortlessly throughout the 15 tracks and features several original Jt Donaldson originals. Keep on believin' and groovin'!
