| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description "Everything Is Illuminated" is the directorial debut of actor Liev Schrieber and an adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's best-selling novel. A blend of high comedy and great tragedy, the film tells the story of a young American man, played by Elijah Wood (The Lord of The Rings trilogy), who journeys to the Ukraine to find the woman whom he believes saved his grandfather from the Nazis all those years ago. The soundtrack features two new songs from high energy New York City based gypsy punks Gogol Bordello, including one track not on their current cd. (Note: Gogol Bordello's lead singer plays a role in "Everything Is Illuminated"). Also included are gypsy folk songs from Russia and the Ukraine by Leningrad, Arkadie Severmie, Csokolom and Tin Hat Trio. And finally, Paul Cantelon's ethnic score ties together this nicely cohesive soundtrack.

Awesome mix of music! February 13, 2008 Knox in Box (St. Louis, MO) If you liked the movie, you'll love the soundtrack! This soundtrack also turned me on to the bands Gogol Bordello and Leningrad.
Good soundtrack! January 7, 2008 Rysieks (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed the music from the film and am very happy with this soundtrack. It includes the orinal scores written for this film along with the various artists that have contributed to the music on the film. This is a "premium Soundtrack!". - Rich Chicago, IL
Tremendously demented little soundtrack December 28, 2007 Jood (Illinois, USA) Like the very quirky movie that inspired it, this soundtrack captures a winky, demented side of eastern European music, and it's utterly entrancing. It has a very human personality, and that makes it delightful.
Mood evoking music November 8, 2007 Homeschool Mom (Ohioville) The music on this CD is very unusual. It's beautiful and moody. There's an Eastern European sound to it, and some of it sounds like folk music of the area, while some of it sounds more like mild punk rock. There's one rap-like song, called "The Con Artists" that contains some mildly offensive comments. (Moms, preview that song before letting the little ones hear it.) This is one of my favorite CDs.
Music for Everyone October 19, 2007 Karen F. Mullen (West Roxbury, MA) I love this CD. After watching the movie, I had to get the music. Every song is great on it. Some are mello, some are peppier. There is a little Slovac punk mixed in. I gave a copy to my dad. My kids love it too. Even my husband, who is not a big music fan enjoys the CD. I'm very happy with it.
