2 out of 5 stars One of these is not like the others   August 10, 2007

I was lured to this cd by the great track, "The Operator". It really is a good song, pulsating and melodic. Unfortunately, that is the ONLY song like it on this entire album. It doesn't fit in - or what I should say is that the other 11 tracks don't do "The Operator" any justice. It feels like this one song was included as "the hit" - and the rest is included, in vain. I don't know who Barbara is, but the first name that jumped out - for comparison sake - is the performance artist Laurie Anderson, who had a song or two back in her day that felt accessible, but whose work was largely anything but. So, to sum up: if you enjoy "The Operator", and come to this album expecting more electro-dance type tracks, you'll be very, very disappointed. I was.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic warm and melodic electro for thinking people   June 25, 2006
Felix Matathias (Manhattan, NY, USA)
I am into Royksopp lately and Boards of Canada, Zero 7 etc. This is definitely a great album, fresh, warm, melodic and very satisfying. It is upbeat with certain tones of melancholy. Many layers of music, piano is at the forefront, warm electronic sounds abound, sophisticated, and the fact that she sings in German is irrelevant, it actually gives to the overall sound this certain european sophistication. I love listening to it while walking in Manhattan, very fitting soundtrack to what is going on in the city during this hot summer.
