The Original Bobby Vinton version is not the CD August 9, 2008 Silverwoodchuck47 (Chesapeake Beach, MD United States) I bought this years ago. I have to give it a low rating because the original Blue Velvet by Bobby Vinton is not on the CD.
Music from Lynchland November 10, 2006 Robert C. Cumbow (Seattle, WA USA) This album not only nicely tracks the film but offers a lasting record of the highlights of the first film score in the career-long relationship between David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti--and also the first Julee Cruise work for a Lynch film. It's satisfying in its own right, but also offers delicious hints of the even greater achievements that lay ahead for the director-composer team that went on to TWIN PEAKS, TWIN PEAKS FIRE WALK WITH ME, LOST HIGHWAY, and MULHOLLAND DR.
One of Badalamenti's Best! July 30, 2004 HeidiKakes (NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Angelo Badalamenti just has a way of capturing an everyday occurence and turning it into an unsettling experience. The score to Blue Velvet is no exception. Just like the film, Badalamenti focuses on the dark side, the underbelly, of the quintessential, care-free suburban lifestyle. Charming kitsch transforms into eerie film noir seemlessly right before listeners' ears.
Haunting, yeah thats it April 10, 2002 Kenneth E. Wagner Jr. (Highland Springs, VA United States) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am no expert on music, but all of David Lynch's movie scores are entrancing. This one jumps from melodious New Age tunes to Roy Orbison in a strange yet gelling fashion. Truly a weird night of listening pleasure...
A superb soundtrack! February 8, 2002 FloozyFlapper1926 (Somewhere in the 20's) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
The soundtrack to Blue Velvet is just as hauntingly brilliant as the film itself. When you listen to this one, you can easily remember scenes from the film and its one of the best soundtracks I've ever bought. Its haunting, eerie and a tad bit creepy at moments but its the kind of music you might listen to in the dark with the headphones on, a glass of wine in one hand and a cigarette in the other, imagining yourself at the club watching Isabella singing her rendition of "Blue Velvet". Simply put, it takes you back to Lumberton and the film very nicely. If you like ethereal and strange music, this is a good one for your collection. If you're already a Blue Velvet fan, you will love this as well. Brilliant.
