great intro album May 9, 2008 eidylon (NY, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had found these guys through some exploratory downloading, of "classical techno". Now, they don't really do any classical music remixes, but one of their songs got in there, and caught my attention. After sampling a few more of their songs, i decided "yeah, these guys are worth buying." I was going to buy Vicious Delicious at first, but for a first-buy, it was a little to expensive, so i went with this one, just in case i didn't like it. I was happily impressed though, and will definitely be going back to get more of their albums! :)
IM the Supervisor indeed May 5, 2006 Bill Michalides (Phoenix, AZ USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is the third album I have picked up of Infected Mushroom, the other two being BP empire and Classical Mushroom. With this album, it seems that IM has distilled down its sound, defined something that "IS" Infected Mushroom. Its a no-frills album (as compared with previous releases), and hits very hard. If you are looking for something to dance to from IM, this is it!
If however, you are looking for wierdness the likes of shpongle as I am, you may find yourself disappointed. I can definitely relate to the review saying this isn't infected enough. For me, Classical mushroom was the best release of the 3 that I have heard (Also my 2nd favorite album behind Shpongle's latest album "Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost", a breath-takingly wierd album), followed by BP, and then this album. That also happens to be the chronology these albums were released in, so IM seems to be going downhill, at least in what I am looking for. That is, extremely well layered and hard to define psytrance/IDM sound, something radically different from what I have heard before. IM definitely fails in this department, as this album is really a distillation of the previous albums into a more basic, harder hitting sound.
Essentially, if you are looking for an album that grabs you by the throat, smacks you around a little and kicks your butt onto the dance floor, you will like this album. Also, if you are coming from the more mainstream area of progressive trance, this album will be more accessible as an intro to psytrance. If you are looking for more organic, intricately layered and wierder sounds, check out classical mushroom, or the last two albums Shpongle has put out.
Incredible musical art!! January 13, 2006 Lukedog (Redwood Valley, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
IM the supervisor is the most awe striking, perfectly mixed and polished piece of art I've ever heard. You can savor the silence between the music! Infected Mushroom has blown me away every time they release an album and I would recommend them all however this one is a cut above. It's the sound quality and little sounds and tweeks that prevent you from closing your jaw. This album is more hard and psytrance stamped than "converting vegetarians" but it's so impressive you won't mind. Just dance untill you fall down!
Not Infected enough January 3, 2006 George W. Schissler (Tokyo, Japan) 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
As a long time I.M. fan, I'm sorry to say that they got it wrong on this album. The vocals are a little too much for my taste in psy-trance. There are better choices out there for good goa trance. If you are new to goa trance and really want some I.M. music, then go with some of their older stuff.
Yeah, COME ON COME ON! October 8, 2005 PsyaBoi (Overton, TX USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Infected Mushroom, in an utter blink of surprise, have surpassed themselves. I honestly didn't think they could do any better, after the 2 CD Hit, "Converting Vegetarians", but obviously they did! This CD weaves an intricate band of beeps, swirls, flangs, tones, and clicks that give you the impression of a possible out-of-body experience that could keep anyone coming back for more. Granted, they aren't a traditional style of Psy-Trance, but, that's what gives them their edge. They have a style like no other. Their use of classical violins, heavy metal guitars, and the combination of hardcore beats make this CD a definite buy!
