Although Lacking in Originality...This Album Features a Strong Disc 2 March 9, 2008 Cloudman (Vancouver, BC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've never been overly impressed with Hernan Cattaneo. Although easily one of the better DJ's out of South America, I find his sets and style a little too copy-catish (especially his earlier commerical releases like this one). Disc 1 is nicely mixed, but the track selection was overall average. It unfortunately included some of my least favorite tracks. "You Are Sleeping" reers its ugly head once again and once again damages yet another set. Disc 2 on the other hand is excellent. 75 minutes of music comprised of just nine tracks...unless you are a MOS Athems or The Annual fan...you have to love that. The track selection itself and the layout is fantastic. I could have done with stronger substitutes for "Topaz" and "My Lexicon", but the flanking duo "Chilling Moments" and "Lights Out" and the superbly chosen final 3 tracks "Walking on Fire", "Headstrong" and "Numb" devour these weak tracks with final result being a stong set for Henan Cattaneo.
Disc 1 gets 3/5 stars and disc 2, 4.5/5 stars.
The best DJ October 26, 2005 Jacob S. Arnett (Haditha, Iraq) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Why is Hernan Cattaneo the only DJ other than Paul Van Dyk continually coming out with introspective albums every time he leaves the studio? This album is just sick with it. Too bad no one comes to Cleveland Ohio to SPIN, otherwise I'd have seen Hernan everytime he'd come, no matter what. He's that good. Walking On Fire is the best track on this superb album. And don't let Perfecto labeling fool you, Oakenfold hasn't rubbed off his mainstream garbage dance music influence on Hernan. Thank god! This album is a must have.

I too bought this on a whim because it was a Perfecto. Perfecto it is! You know how they say you should cook a lobster over a low flame and gradually raise the temperature? Cattaneo sets out to cook you the same way. Deep, dark, steamy, smooth and sexy, the rhythms of this double set are delightfully hypnotic. While the second of the two discs is where the main action is, the first disc sets you up nice and slow, and you get really cooking on the second. It's a good set-up and a great buy. I believe that Deep Dish's, "Moscow," is a great companion album to this one.

What a beautiful, intelligent, hard, heart pumping piece of work! This album is absolutely fantastic. Great way to slow down some of the song just a tiny bit and then work them back up to a frenzy. I'll be watching for more releases from Hernan Cattaneo. Awesome, awesome, awesome job! A+

Great unique sound - a must in trance appreciation, the best tracks in my opinion are the last 3 on the 2nd CD.
