| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com The riveting documentary Modulations could be subtitled "Everything You've Always Wanted to Know About Electronic Music but Were Afraid to Ask" for its comprehensive history of electronic music from industrial and techno to jungle and house. The soundtrack collection focuses on dance-oriented tracks that stand as mini-paradigms of their representative subgenres. Giorgio Moroder's Euro-disco mix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" married pulsating electronic beats to an erotic mantra, laying the foundation for endless musical mutation. Afrika Bambaataa's beat-synth melange "Planet Rock" is here, along with Juan Atkins's (as Model 500) remix of his pivotal techno hit "No UFOs." Modulations provides informative entertainment for the novice and a fine best-of sampler for the aficionado of electronic music. --Gail Worley

must-have January 19, 2000 dj blue (Seattle, WA United States) this cd has a great selection of tracks that any fan of any of all these new 'electronica' acts should definately pick up to both brush up on thier history as well as get to groovin with!
a superb, necessarily fractured introduction November 20, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
"I Feel Love" was the hook for me, although I'm familiar with the other artists featured. The recognition of Giorgio Moroder/Donna Summer's epochal track contextualises everything that follows, and while some of it may be 'difficult listening' for the uninitiated, the represented tracks are spot-on. Unreservedly recommended.
