Amazon.com Perhaps the most talented, diverse, and adventurous four hands in dance music production today, Deep Dish have fittingly chosen Moscow as the venue for their Global Underground debut. Combining the intrigue and mystery of the Russian capital with their own bottomless pit of discovery, Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia and Sharem Tayebi weave one of GU's classic journeys. Disc one starts with 16b Vs Morel's warm, house-flavored "Escape (Driving to Heaven)," which shifts into Soul Provider's "Rise (Mas Collective Mix)." The ear-catching, Moog-like note during SSHH's smooth-stomping "Hold That Body (Wally Lopez & Dr. Kucho Remix)" is curiously addictive, and soon afterward we reach the heart of Moscow 021 with the psychedelic trance surround-sound of Chab's "The Dub Session (A Cooler Dub/A Harder Dub)." Shirazinia kicks off the second disc with a more direct nod to root influences, first using a dub-tinged Way Out West mix of BT's "Shame" before busting out a truly awesome trance dub gem, Blackwatch Presents Professor Okku's "Word Unspoken." Shuffle in other seamlessly folded treasures such as the driving Markus Shultz remix of Fatboy Slim's "Bird of Prey," the tense mystery of Accorsi/Robb's "Foundation" and the fluid denouement of Envy's "Faith," and you have another superb GU set for the collection. This record proves that in the world of trance-house DJs, Deep Dish are masters of their craft. --Steffan Chirazi

music to listen to as well as dance March 10, 2008 ben mitchell (Perth W.A.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am up to my third copy of this c.d and am wishing I could find a flawless disc in amongst the 6. The music is superb but the Singaporean pressing are appalling.
techouse...a raver for life..."a buzzlife/capitol intensive clubbing" fan February 21, 2008 N. Dhakal (Charlotte, USA) Sasha's San Fransisco and Deep Dish's Moscow...nothing else compares (Tenaglia's Athens may come close)....these guys are Steely Dan or Wishbone Ash of electronica!!! I love Sander and Desyn...f'ing sexy jamming house...but it is San Fransisco and Moscow that I throw in when I am the most f'ed up!!! San Fransisco captures the ecstasy spirit like no other, and Moscow--I haven't heard another CD as groove heavy as this...I am, and have been, speechless for all these years!!!
A Must Have Global Underground Album December 15, 2007 Cloudman (Vancouver, BC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I still think 2001 was one of the greatest years for the world of elecronica and Global Underground 21: Moscow is yet another fantastic album to back up my claim. Deep Dish premiers for GU with one of the series most "live sounding" albums.
Disc 1 launches off with 4 exceptional tracks in a row, but the remixes of Dido's "Thank You" and Ilo's "Rapture" (desptie their remix being vastly superior to the original track) could have been skipped over or substituted to improve the set overall.
Disc 2 is a brillant set that includes two distinct drops in tempo (after tracks 7 and 12) revealing its true purpose. A set specifically designed for the later half of great clubbing night out with those two purposeful tempo changes strategically placed, allowing the occupants on the dance floor to soak it all in. Generally I've never been a fan of dub's and remixes but these guys are so good at improving on original tracks. Fatboy Slim's "Bird of Prey" is a pretty average track in my opinion but I love the Dish's remix. This set would have been a great one to dance the night away to.
Disc 1 gets 4/5 stars, and disc 2, 4.5/5 stars.
Solid up to a point April 13, 2007 Kelly G. Wendland I agree with most of the reviews already on here. Both discs have stellar track selection, but there are some that seemingly don't belong, etc. Having said that, I still listen to both of these CDs pretty dam often. Specifically disc one, the mix from I Can See the Lights through Hot is great, because the tracks go together so well. Disc two is kind of like two mixes in one. It goes from track one up to I feel stereo, the track runs out, and then Bird of Prey starts at its beginning and the mix takes an entirely new direction (that's not to say this isn't good - Manilla Sunrise is a great track).
Also I'd like to note that I just got two 10" subs in my car, and Moscow sounds great out of them.
In summary, this album is well worth the money - I've got most of the global underground albums and this one has a place with me.
Its good but that about it January 4, 2007 Andrey Zakharenko (San Francisco, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The only reason I got this CD was because it was recorded in Moscow, my home town. The double Cd has a few tracks that I enjoyed but for the most part it was a very blah CD for me. I have seen Deep Dish live and enjoyed their music, but this Cd just didn't do it for me.
