5 out of 5 stars David Guetta will be #1 in House/Dance very soon!!!!!   May 10, 2007

David Guetta being a french D.J never got the respect from U.S. and UK Deejay's and was often scoffed at. Until his first single , "The World Is Mine" broke through. Paul Oakenfold complimented Guetta for remixing Depeche Mode!! WRONG!!!! Guetta explained that this was his track featuring the best vocals in House JD Davis with songs like The World Is Mine and In Love with Myself. The album is the best house compilation I have ever heard, with great tracks with amazing vocals by Chris Willis and JD Davis. Better then Deep Dish, Erick Morillo, and I would even say Paul Commercial house Oakenfold who left Europe to live in the States.

4 out of 5 stars Great!, Just Like His Debut   September 6, 2006

French DJ/Remixer David Guetta's sophomore album is called "Blaster", despite having released countless of singles and remixes he rarely records full lenght albums, which is a shame, but when he does they usually turn out good. His debut album "Just A Little More Love" was nothing short of stunning, and his second album is no diffrence. It's a mix between old and new, classic soul/disco blended with modern house/pop/electro. While listening to this, you'll get deja vu feeling of retro. Guetta does sample alot, hence some songs may be fammiliar but they are good on their own nonetheless. Chris Willis appears once again with his great soulful voice, and new guests are JD Davis, James Terry, Miss Thing, Stereo Mc's (Remember the hit "Connected" from 1993?. The majority of songs are rather commercial House/ Retro Pop but towards then end of the album there are more house and electro standards, just like on his last album. Highlights are "Money" a rock influenced electro-pop song. Soulish hit single "Stay", "The World Is Mine" that samples Simple Mind's "Someone, Somewhere, In the Summertime" and "In Love With Myself" another catchy song with fammiliar sound. Stereo Mc's appears on "Open Your Eyes" which is good and retro song "Time" is also high class. Some of the latter songs are less commercial, like "Addc" that is a Daft Punk sounding rock/electro song slow paced "Higher" and "Movement Girl" and the very odd cloer "Last Train" feauturing Miss Thing. Needless to say, David Guetta did it again. Yet another great dance album that will be welcolmed if you like great catchy electro/house music with a retro feeling. Sadly this album, didn't get much exposure in US but is available as an Import so far, but it's worth it. 4/5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Love 80s dance and modern dance? You'll LOVE this CD....   June 8, 2006

This is one of the hottest CDs if you're into the retro-electro sound. You'll swear David Gahan is singing songs like `In Love With Myself' and `The World is Mine', The mellow "new wave" feeling `Time' sounds like it borrowed a synthesizer (and riff) off Ministry's "with sympathy" CD. Stereo MC's make a guest appearance on the downtempo house thumper `Open Your Eyes', `Higher' is like a synth pop dance track you'd hear on an Anything Box CD--but with a Simply Red-esque vocal. `Get Up' is a total rock/electro house hybrid--reminds me of an arena rock production you'd hear on an 80s soundtrack like "Top Gun." This is a must have if you're into recent stuff by Infernal, The Moderns, Lasgo, etc....

Having only heard (from this CD) "The World Is Mine", I was left craving more and this CD certainly delivered! Every track moves and the vocals are simply fantastic. I heard David Guetta for the first time a few years ago with "Just A Little More Love" and was aurally pleased then. Its time to go back now and start getting his previous material. I'm so glad to have new commute music!

5 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise   May 17, 2005

Ok so here's how dance music typically goes:

The artist makes a standout, kick-butt single that floods compilations and dance floors. They may do it up to 3 more times, but they'll release an album eventually. And the album...will leave something to be desired. As good as acts like Angel City, Iio, and Deepest Blue are concerning singles and mix additions, their albums are less than stellar. More like...filler.

David Guetta, however, has a stunning little album on his hands here. His lyrics may be repetetive (one verse, sung a bunch of times with a chorus interjected) but the vocalists are great and the music is extremely engaging. And despite the repetition, the lyrics still remain somewhat poignant and relevant.

The music is flooded with 80's influences. The beats aren't overpowering and the little intricacies within the melodies and harmonies and beats are interesting to listen to and increase the overall enjoyability of the album.

You just can't go wrong here. Wonderful stuff.
