Better than original September 27, 2008 MendoDan (Ukiah, Ca) It does pull in signals better than the original indoor/outdoor antenna, even when mounted under similar conditions. The cable is heavier duty and the connection is waterproofed.
As to whether it works better than Directed Electronics 14240 I cannot say.
Things to consider between the 2 outdoor antennas (besides the price): Is the greater extension of the Terk antenna important for your mounting consideration (for example to reach out from under eves)? and, Is the color important?
Great product July 4, 2008 Christian Sary It works really well..I wish I would have researched it a little more before. I probably could have found a better price..But I am very happy with it.
"Pegs the Meter!" June 9, 2008 W. Lynch (North Fork, Long Island ,NY) I had the small window/outdoor antenna that came with my unit. I was only getting full strength at certain times of the day. Most of the day it was only 1/2 to 3/4 strength on the meter. Enough to sound good but I wanted to put up a real antenna. The current antenna was mounted on a mast about 20 feet off the ground. I decided to upgrade after I had to take the mast down for a new chimney. Wow was I surprised. Full strength over the course of the day with very few drop outs only lasting a few seconds verses up to a minute with the small one. I would highly recommend this antenna. With a better signal you will also hear a richer sound. More depth in the music and I can say it sounds crisper. Although Sirius is no longer using this model, I wanted to use this one because I am also using the Terk 50 foot extension with built in amp. It is a good idea to using the same brand cables/connections because they match brand wise. Not all cables are made the same. The specs are the same for this older model vs. the new one available from Sirius.
Awesome June 6, 2008 Herman Hermit (North Carolina, US) Excellent product, so much better than that antenna that came with the receiver. I put it on the side of the house after some trial and error signal searching, and its been consistently good since, even with considerable tree and leaf cover. Highly recommended if you have difficult reception at home.
A huge improvement February 27, 2008 B. Parker This made a huge improvement in my reception. Sirius should include his antenna with their home kit instead of the weak thing they are currently using. No more dropped signals.
